One of the Vessels, A/E turbo charger cooling water casing got small hole in side.

Because of that, the water went to inside of the unit, the fourth engineer without blowing through, started engine. Immediately big noise came and engine was stopped . Thorough inspection was carried out, and when crank case was inspected, it was found two numbers connecting rods were bent, crank pins damaged and two liners got cracked.

Lesson Learnt :

This clearly indicates the importance of ‘blowing through’ the engine.
Safety procedures should never be ignored or neglected.
