Fitter and 2/E were lowering the M/E cylinder head in the E/R through the skylight by the Aft gantry crane. 2/E was handling the crane switch and the fitter was looking down the skylight to check clearance.
The fitter was "guiding" the crane wire carelessly, holding one of the four wires by his leather gloved hand. Suddenly the block of the crane twisted, and fitter's hand got caught in the twist of wires.
He managed to pull his hand free but the gloves, and his thumb inside, were left trapped in the twist.
