SAFETY WORKING GOGGLES
6th Dec. 04
The crew was in the habit of wearing ordinary sunglasses, as against the regulation safety goggles, while working on deck.
They used to carry on with this unsafe habit even while chipping. It was during chipping on deck that this incident occurred. One of the chipped particles from one guy's hammer entered the eye of another working next to him.
The injury took over 4 weeks to heal, fortunately not affecting the vision of the victim.
It is always safer to wear the recommended chipping goggles, as they protect the eyes.
