GROUNDING OF DREDGER
Incident took place in Kandla Port around 1800 hrs. The dredger was asked to anchor at a given position. Vessel proceeded to the given point and the anchor was let go. Suddenly the master realized that anchor was not dropped in the correct position. He ordered the station, to heave up the anchor. The anchor was heaved up and the helm was not responding. As the tide was very strong, as soon as the anchor came up, tide took over and the ship ran aground by stern. The vessel had to wait till the next high tide, and when she started floating, the tug assistance was called and she was pulled into the deep water.
