TRANING JUNIORS : A PERSONAL VIEW
04Fitter and 2/E were lowering the Main Engine Cylinder Head in the E/R through the skylight by the Aft gantry.
2/E was handling the crane control and the fitter was looking down the Skylight to keep an eye on the clearance. At the same time he was "guiding" the crane wire carelessly, holding one of the four wires by his leather-gloved hand.
Suddenly the wire block twisted, and fitter's hand was caught in the twisted falls. He managed to pull his hand out but the glove, and unfortunately his thumb, were left behind.
Immediate medical help saved his hand but the digit was lost.
