On one ship with 6 RD 76 engine during the course of survey a fuel pump block (new) was fitted in place of an old one. Fuel pump timing was checked and adjusted as necessary.

When the vessel sailed out, it was noticed the unit with this new block was not firing.

After trying to find the fault for a day or two, it was decided to change the block to the old one. Everything then returned to normal.

The new block was dismantled for inspection. It was found that this one unit had been blanked off as this block was to be used for only on No.7 unit.
