Arriving at a Port, with the Main Engine on Maneuvering, the RPM was suddenly increased by bridge from 400 to 700 revs.

At this moment the main engine Crankcase door lifted and thick white smoke blew out, with the engine coming to an abrupt stop.

Engine was turned on turning gear but wouldn't budge. Crank case door was opened and after inspection it was found that # 6 Bottom End bearing shell had gone to Top End bearing position and had got jammed, thus preventing the engine from turning.

Upon investigating it was found that this engine had the same problem 9 yrs ago and this time it was a recurrence of the same problem
