A BASIC PRINCIPLE
7th Feb. 05
Safety of crewmembers onboard is the responsibility of every one of those who carry out the job, those who supervise, as well as those who order the work.
If any one in the system fails to assume responsibility, there is a danger to the personnel on board.
A Third Officer perished in an incident as he failed to observe the above basic principle when working on deck. He was crushed between two containers that were being loaded.
Hence training on board and at various modular courses must be aimed at cultivating the above principles of safety.
