We were lapping the main engine exhaust valve seat with spindle.
The Spindle was attached to an eyebolt. After lapping was finished, we lifted up the spindle and were cleaning the face, when suddenly the eyebolt came out from the threads and fell down.
The 3rd engineer's finger was caught under the weight. We were in port at the time. He was sent to the doctor for immediate attention.
Later we found that threads of the spindle had been damaged.
