We were honoured to welcome Capt. Ashutosh Bajpai, Managing Director, Marlow Navigation India, to HIMT College on 5 August 2026 for the Epaulette Ceremony of our DNS Batch 06. Capt. Bajpai was accorded a warm welcome by the leadership of HIMT College, led by Dr. Sanjeev S. Vakil, CEO, Capt. Anand Subramanian, Principal, Capt. Venkatraman, Vice- Principal and Mr. Tirth Vakil, Director – Operations.
The Epaulette Ceremony marks a significant milestone in every deck cadet’s journey. More than a symbol of rank, the epaulettes represent responsibility, discipline and the trust placed in future officers.
Addressing the cadets, Capt. Bajpai shared valuable insights that will guide them throughout their maritime careers:
- “The epaulette is not just a decoration. The cadets have earned it.”
- “The sea does not test your memory, it tests your mindset.”
- “Nobody is so big that they can look down on someone else.”
- “At sea there are no shortcuts, there are only standards.”
During his visit, Capt. Bajpai also interacted with the GME and DNS cadets selected by Marlow Navigation, toured our campus and mock-up training facilities, and appreciated the quality of HIMT’s training infrastructure, reaffirming the confidence the maritime industry places in our graduates.
As part of the visit, he also planted a sapling on the HIMT College campus, symbolising our shared commitment to a greener future.
