Capt. Anand Subramanian joined sea in 1995 as a Deck cadet with Wilhelmsen Ship Management. He completed his cadetship and became an officer in 1998 and went on to become Master in 2007.
Capt. Anand Subramanian has sailed on a wide range of vessels, including Bulk carriers, Self Unloaders, Car Carriers, Container Ships, Oil & Chem Tankers & VLCC.
In 2018, after almost 24 years at sea, including 12 years as Captain of Sea going ships, he shifted over to shore job and joined HIMT Presea College to train and mentor young cadets and our budding seafarers. He is presently holding the post of Principal of HIMT Presea campus.

A Mechanical Engineering Graduate choosing Marine Profession which saw him serving as a Chief Engineer on various types of vessels. Founder & CEO of Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training, Chennai. With a Penchant for Imparting Quality Maritime Training Mr. Vakil started HIMT in 1998. He has helmed with great dedication & professionalism to elevate HIMT as a most reputed Maritime Training Institution with over 2 decades of providing Quality Maritime Training to Mariners.

HIMT which started with Three Modular Courses and by 2001 it became India’s Largest Maritime Training Institute in terms of Number of Courses approved by DG Shipping. HIMT has received several prestigious International Awards & National recognitions. Mr. Vakil has been the 1st Marine Engineer in the World to be conferred with the Fellowship from Nautical Institute , UK. He is also the fellow of Institute of Marine Engineers, Institute of Engineers, Chartered Engineer , MBA. He is also an active Committee member in various professional bodies.

Sailing experience of about 12years and additionally 27 years as office superintendent with 5 ship owners in the maintenance and repairs of ships, dry docking including the construction of double hull bulk carriers and green field shipyard.

Joined South India Shipping Corporation (SISCO), Chennai. Leads various positions in various companies Technical Manager in India Cements Pvt. Ltd. Vice President in Good Earth Maritime Pvt. Ltd. Member of The Board of Executive Council of the Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai. Managed and operated vessels of Indian, Panamanian, Liberian flag administrations. He Co-ordinated with the TamilNadu Maritime Board and various government departments for shipyard establishment.

Have 9 years experience as Chief Engineer in Oil tankers and AHTS vessels. 7 years of teaching experience in the subjects, Steam engineering, Heat engines, Refrigeration, Air conditioning systems, Engine room management, Naval architecture, Marine auxiliaries, Boilers, pumps and Gas turbines.

Have been in teaching field since 1997 for the past 25 years as head of the department, course Coordinator and principal with 18 years of experience in marine college and a decade in HIMT. Have been taking classes up to postgraduate and research level

I am a Master Mariner and I have been a teaching faculty with HIMT College for more than 2 years

Chief Engineer with over 26 years of Sailing Experience on various types of Vessels & Dredgers. Teaching Experience of 18 years. Faculty with HIMT since November 2008 for Pre-Sea Engineering Courses, Engineering Competency Courses & Modular Coures.

Post Graduate in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Teaching various Engineering related topics in HIMT for Competency Courses.

Worked as Assistant Professor for 10 years.

MEO CL IV Marine Engineer with sailing experience on PCC and Oil Tanker. 3 years of teaching experience on Engine Room Simulator and Ship-In-Campus. Awarded by  “The Maritime Trainers Guild” for Innovation in Practical Training and Skill Development in 2021.

I have finished my B.E at Anna University and M.E in Anna University and secured University second rank  and presented my research in marine composite materials in my post graduation. Later I continued to complete my research and doing my doctorate under the topic marine composite materials and structural analysis in various shipyards all over India.

Leads the workshop training at HIMT for the past 18 years.

Incharge of GP Ratings Seaman Ship Skills , imparts efficient training to the cope up with the shipboard duties of seafarers.

Work in Dry Dock and Rig and offshore 

WORKED AS ELECTRICIAN IN OMAN ,DUBAI,SAUDI IN CEMENT COMPANY. 18 YRS OF EXPERIENCE IN HIGH VOLTAGE ,6.6KV,33KV,110 KV DISTRIBUTION FEEDER PANELS AND ITS CONTROL GEARS

Works as a Librarian at HIMT College for more than Ten years. We have installed CALIBRE an E-Management Software and Uploaded more than 250 E-Books.
